Ossola Valley
1. Masera, Villa Panorama (2-5 persons):
A few turns above the valley, ground-floor in this modern villa with terraces, veranda and barbecue. Entrance, kitchen and living room with TV and 2 beds within bench. Bedroom with bed for 2 persons and washbasin, bathroom with shower and washing machine. Unique view towards the Ossola valley and mountains.
2. Masera, Casa Giuseppina (4-6 persons):
Country house on impressive estate with botanic garden in Masera. Private terrace looks towards the mountains. Living room with TV, separate kitchen with micro-wave oven and fire-place. First floor: 3 bedrooms and bathroom with shower.
35 Km distance between Masera: 4000m peaks and Lake di Mergozzo, Lake Maggiore, Domodossola: 10 km, Switzerland Simplon: 20 km. Ossola Valley: Crevoladossola.
3. Crevoladossola, Villa d'época Silva (2-4-6 persons):
Ossolaland's highest located (600 m.) villa in the Ossola valley near Crevoladossola. Garden, terrace with barbecue and veranda: 40 m2. Really a nice house with spectacular view. On the ground-floor: living room with fire-place, kitchen. Bathroom with shower and washing machine. First-floor: bedroom with bed for 2 persons and on the attic-floor bedroom with 3 beds. Extra room available with 2 beds and extra bathroom.
Ossola Vogogna: National Park ValGrande, Castel and medieval fortress of Vogogna.
4. Vogogna: At the Theater - Bed & Breakfast - Al Teatro (1-10 persons):
Bed & Breakfast in the medieval Palazzo Arcangeli, located in the historical centre of Vogogna. Ideally situated between (about 20 km. from) the lakes and Domodossola and near the highest mountains of the Alps. Village with entrance and footpaths into Valgrande: the National Park known as the largest wilderness in Italy.
Free-parking nearby Bed and Breakfast 'Al Teatro'. Nice garden with dining table, garden loungers and barbecue. Four bedrooms with two beds or beds for two persons. All rooms with private bathroom: one with bath and three with shower. Breakfast will be served in the living room. It's also possible for a large group or family to rent 'at the theater' as a Villa: all the rooms, inclusive well equipped kitchen and living room with fire place, couch bed and TV.

5. Casa Luciana
(2-5 persons):
The little torrent near the house is called 'Lovic' at the villages borders
were its perfect to cycle or to do some jogging. Only 1 km. from horse riding.
Apartment on the ground-floor. Kitchen with Satellite-TV, oven and washing
machine. Two bedrooms. Bathroom with shower. Terrace and parking.

Ossola Mountains
Bognanco Valley: Domodossola - Bognanco 7 km. -
San Lorenzo 11 km. - Graniga 12 km. // La Gomba 14 km. - San Bernardo 19 km. Bognanco springs (700 m.) is a health
resort - 7 km. from Domodossola, 40 km. from Lake Maggiore - with excellent
mineral waters: San Lorenzo, Ausonia and Gaudenziana. Bognanco also is a deep
green valley crossed by the Bogna torrent (canyoning), from which it took its
name. Free from any pollution, enjoying a mild climate an ideal surrounding to
discover the Ossola mountains with summits above 4000 m.
In the little village of San Lorenzo-Graniga
(1.100 m.), there's a bus stop - with
connection from the international railway station in Domodossola - mini-market,
post-office, bar and restaurant.
It's a 10 minutes walk to San Lorenzo and 20 to La Gomba, with football pitch
and Camping Village Yolki Palki.
6. Bognanco, Hotel Restaurant Bar Cecilia's
(1100 m.):
Hotel 'da Cecilia' with 9 comfortable bedrooms, each with private bathroom.
Panoramic view from the balconies and the terrace, where dinner can be served,
especially during the summer season. The hotel is completely renovated in the
nineties. The restaurant is known for its Italian and Alpine specialties.
Satellite TV room, bar and restaurant with 50 places.

7. Bognanco Valley, Chalet Yolki Palki Camping
Village (2-4 persons): At Alpe 'La Gomba' (1250 m.) in
the Bognanco valley, camping village with chalets. On site there's a nice
football pitch, sauna, mini-market, bar and restaurant. Yolki Palki offers a
splendid location to discover flora and fauna. Walks into the woods, where you
can hear the gentle sound of waterfalls, or along the narrow alleys with the
typical houses. New: sauna and wellness centre.
The chalets have two bedrooms, one with sofa-bed for 2 persons and one with
bunks bed. Living-room and kitchen with 2 cooking-plates. Bathroom with shower.
Veranda with dinning table. Because Yolki Palki offers a camp site as well, its
easy to add a tent nearby. The price (own tent) is 7 Euro during low-season and
10 Euro in July and August.

The mountain hut near the Monscerapass is easily accessible from
Switzerland and Italy. From Gondo, on the border, into the Swiss
Zwischbergental (Val Vaira) and then over the Monscerapass (2103 m.).
8. Upper Bognanco Valley,
Rifugio Gattascosa (1993 m.):
At the Italian side of the mountain, hikes start in a place called San Bernardo. The road towards Alpe San Bernardo (1630 m.), in the Upper Bognanco valley, is kept open during winter. San Lorenzo Graniga, a little lower (1100 m.), can also be reached by bus from Domodossola (international train station). From San Bernardo, there are two paths to the Gattascosa hut: the mountain lake Ragozza-road (shortest) and the Arza-road (longer but easier). The hike - also done with backcountry skis or snowshoes - takes about one hour and a half. Luggage service available.
The dining room is fully furnished and has a large fireplace. Modern kitchen.
The rifugio-hut has 4 bathrooms and 5 bedrooms with comfortable 5, 4, 7, 3 and 5
beds. The heating is combined gas and wood. The hut has its own mineral water
source and energy comes from solar cells.

9. Craveggia, Bungalow Camping Hermitage (2-6 persons):
The camping site is situated in a pine forest along a quiet stream. The cable-car is only 100 meters away and reaches the ski slopes (between 1450 and 2065 m.), which summit - near 'La Piana di Vigezzo' - is also used as starting point by a lot of paragliding enthusiasts.
Every sector is spacious and provided with electricity. The main services are close even to the further lots, because there are three buildings in the various areas of the site. The camping is provided of wide, detached lots, terraces which offer a spectacular view.
Camping Hermitage service is designed to fulfil every expectation. The main services of the camp site are: separate bathrooms for men and for women, rooms for the cleaning of dishes, washing machines and wash-tubs, ironing and drying site. Bar and Restaurant (which offers take-away service of hot meals as well). Play-hall and a salon with a wonderful fireplace to warm you during the cold winter evenings.
The camping site, restaurant and bar are open all 4 seasons.
Divedro Valley, San Domenico di Varzo: 1420 - 2550 m. Nature Park Alpe Veglia. Pure winter sports: on the slopes, natural snow, and mostly in abundance.
10. San Domenico, Locanda Diei:
The guesthouse with restaurant is situated on the main square, 200 m. from the chairlift. Its name is derived from Pizzo Diei (2906 m.), the mountain just south of San Domenico. To the north, the highest peak in the Lepontine Alps, Monte Leone (3555 m.), on the Swiss border. The Locanda offers nice rooms in alpine style, all four with private bathroom with shower or bath. Free wireless WI-FI internet. Good starting point for hikes into the high Alpine backcountry of Nature Park Alpe Veglia.
The restaurant serves original Ossola dishes, using local products and ingredients. It is also possible to reservate special meals, such as bourguignonne, fondue, cassouela, bollito, bagna cauda, etc. Every weekend: pizza-time, wood oven pizza until 22:30 (Friday - Saturday - Sunday).
Lago Maggiore
11. Casa Verbania (2-5 persons):
In the centre of Verbania, the most important city of the Italian part of Lake Magggiore. Boulevard, about 500 m. from the apartment. Boats and Ferryboats. Every Saturday there's a Market just outside of the front door. Photos March 2008.)

12. Casa Ghiffa (2-5 persons):
leaving the city, 10 minutes north by car you'll reach Ghiffa. Above this village, that is very much appreciated for centuries by tourists, you'll find small attractive quarters. Casa Sandra is an original house with barbecue, terraces, garden and breathtaking lake view. 2 minutes walk from the central parking place. Grocery 5-10 minutes on foot. (Photos March 2008.)

Orta San Giulio: Lago d'Orta
13. Villa al Lago d'Orta (6-8 persons):
Superbella villa, 50 m. from the beach and only 3 minutes walking away from the centre of the historically important Orta San Giulio. The house is surrounded by a beautiful garden and terraces. Private parking for 3 cars. Kitchen with dishwasher, spacious living room with balcony (lake-view), TV and fire-place. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms (one with bath). Washing machine. Two bedrooms with bed for 2 persons and two bedrooms with 2 single beds. Child bed available.

Winter in Ossola
Most important winter sport resorts: Macugnaga, San Domenico (map above), Alpe Devero, Formazza, Domobianca (map above), Valle Vigezzo-La Piana and Mottarone.
Ossola, a north Italian region, is surrounded by alpine Natural Parks - Alpe Veglia, Alpe Devero, Antrona - and the first National Park of the Italian Alps, ValGrande. Domodossola is the main town in the Ossola valley, from where you can reach about 150 km. of ski-slopes within one hour. Situated near the Swiss border it gives opportunity to visit Valais/Wallis ski resorts as well. (: By car shuttle train Iselle-Brig, 22 CHF, 30 minutes.). Ossola can easily be reached by train with arrival at the Domodossola international railway station. Milano is only about one hour and a half away. Lowest natural border from Ossola with Switzerland in the North-West is the Simplon pass, 2005 m. Highest point is the Punta Dufour, 4635 m. Ossola: a region with Piedmontese gastronomy, where you can enjoy the pureness of winter and sports.
