Piemonte Lakes Ossola

The 'Toce' river streams down the Ossola Valley, 30 km. from Domodossola towards Lake Maggiore. This area between lakes is dominated by Mount Orphan: Montorfano (794 m.). To the east - 4 km away - Lake Maggiore, 7 km. to the west: Lago d'Orta and immediately north of Montorfano: Lago di Mergozzo. Between December and February even here temperatures at night easily reach a freezing level. And when the fire-place creates atmosphere, typical winter dishes need to be served. At daytime some enjoy the sunshine and mild temperatures along the lakeside, others are fishing, playing golf or already took the decision to visit the Ossola mountains.

Mergozzo: One hour from Macugnaga (Monte Rosa 4635 m.) , half an hour from Mottarone. One hour and a half from San Domenico (1450 - 2600 m.).

Lago di Mergozzo is situated at 200 m. above sea-level in the middle of all cultural and natural attractions. Nearby the spectacular Ossola mountains. Most important winter sport resorts: Macugnaga, San Domenico, Alpe Devero, Formazza, Domobianca (plan above), Valle Vigezzo-La Piana (plan above) and Mottarrone. From Orta it's also easy to reach Alagna Valsesia. The Ossola Valley offers the opportunity to reach easily about 150 km. of slopes (most open for weekend) in this spectacular, natural area.

Like Casa Susi picturesque near the lake on a little hill in the centre of Mergozzo. The apartment on the ground-floor with separate entrance, bathroom and kitchen, one bedroom. The other 2 beds are in the living room.

7. Casa Suna & Spiaggia (2-4 persons):

The houses Casa Suna & Spiaggia (or beach) are situated at the lakeside boulevard. Suna is a quarter with many restaurants, some of the best hotels, bars and shops. The south orientated beach faces the Borromee islands and Stresa. Photos above are from november 2006.

Casa Suna (2-4 persons), is situated at the landside of the building: kitchen and terrace (no lake-view), living room with bedroll with bed for 2 persons. Bathroom with shower and washing machine. Bedroom with two single beds within bench. Its perfectly possible to eat outside on the terrace.

The two houses offer a perfect combination for 8 persons: because of the possibility to use Casa Spiaggia's backdoor.

Casa Spiaggia (4-5 persons), at the lakeside of the building with a small garden entrance, but with enough space to sit outside. Just across the boulevard there're swimming pool and public beach. Bedroom and hall with doors towards the garden. Kitchen and living room with TV. Bathroom with shower and bedroom with two beds. This second bedroom with backdoor gives entrance to the terrace that connects Casa Spiaggia with Casa Suna.
