Masera, Vigezzo, Domodossola

Ossola is surrounded by the Alpine Natural Parks Alpe Veglia, Devero and the first National Park of the Italian Alps: Valle Grande. Domodossola is the main town in the Ossola valley and plays an important commercial and cultural role in this region. Situated near the Swiss border it gives opportunity to experience the difference between the Swiss and Italian way of life. Ossola can also easily be reached by train with arrival at the Domodossola international railway- and bus station. The world of Milano is only about one hour away. Lowest natural border from Ossola with Switzerland in the North-West is the Simplon pass, 2005 m. Highest point is the Punta Dufour, 4635 m.: Ossola: a region with Palm trees and glaciers.

Masera: Ossola Valley - Valley of Vigezzo

Masera is a rustic village with supermarket, butcher, baker, kiosque, traîteur, hairdresser, post-office, a few restaurants and a bar. Public swimming-pool at 7 km. in Domodossola. Tennis courts can also be found in Masera and to refresh during the summer a lot of inhabitants take also a 'acqua naturale' bath in the torrents, little rivers, coming from the mountains. Domodossola-Masera-Locarno by local panoramic private 'Vigezzina' train is a nice excursion. Lakes and high mountains around the corner.

1. Villa Panorama (2-5 persons):

A few turns above the Valley, ground-floor in this modern villa with terraces, veranda and barbecue. Entrance, kitchen and living room with TV and 2 beds within bench. Bedroom with bed for 2 persons and washbasin, bathroom with shower and washing machine. Unique view towards the Ossola valley and mountains.

2. Casa Elena (2, 4-6 persons):

Traditional rustic Ossola style cottage on a little car-free square in Masera. Modern kitchen with living and fire-place. Two bedrooms: on the first floor (bed for 2 persons) and attic-floor (two single beds). Bathroom. Breakfast service available.

Before 26-6 and after 4-9 (spring and autumn): € 450 per week.

26-6 till 4-9: € 490 per week.

3. Casa Giuseppina (4-6 persons):

Country house on impressive estate with botanic garden in Masera. Private terrace looks towards the mountains. Living room with TV, separate kitchen with micro-wave oven and fire-place. First floor: 3 bedrooms and bathroom with shower.

26-6 till 4-9: € 660 per week.

Distance Masera to Lake di Mergozzo and Lake Maggiore is 30 km.

De Vigezzo Valley: Between Domodossola and Locarno. The little ‘La Vigezzina’ train crosses many bridges and visits Masera, Druogno, Santa Maria Maggiore, Craveggia, Malesco towards the Swiss border and Locarno at Lake Maggiore. Looking out of the windows of that train people understand why this valley is called as well the 'Valley of the painters'. Santa Maria is the centre of the Vigezzo Valley, near Malesco: one of the best entrees to start a hike in the Valle Grande National Park.

4. Villa d'época Silva (2-4-6 persons):

Ossolaland's highest located (600 m.) villa in the Ossola Valley near Crevoladossola. Garden, terrace with barbecue and veranda: 40 m. Really a nice house with spectacular view. 5. Domodossola - Cappuccina quarter: Bed & Breakfast di Mary (4-5 persons):

The Cappuccina quarter is situated between Domodossola centre and the Bogna River. A particular location for a holiday in the Alps, because of its Mediterranean atmosphere. In the thirty's the first families, that arrived from the south of Italy settled here. Bed & Breakfast di Mary on the ground floor has got three bedrooms and a nice garden to eat outside. One bedroom with bed for two persons, the other with two single beds and one with single bed. Well equipped Kitchen. Bathroom with shower. Cosy, spacious living room with TV. Collective washing machine. Parking place in Via Italia.

6. Vogogna: At the Theater - Bed & Breakfast - Al Teatro (1-10 Persons):

Bed & Breakfast in the medieval Palazzo Arcangeli, located in the historical centre of Vogogna. Ideally situated between (about 20 km. from) the lakes and Domodossola and near the highest mountains of the Alps. Village with entrance and footpaths into Valgrande: the National Park known as the largest wilderness in Italy.

Free-parking nearby Bed and Breakfast 'Al Teatro'. Nice garden with dining table, garden loungers and barbecue. Four bedrooms with two beds or beds for two persons. The little torrent near the house is called 'Lovic' at the villages borders were its perfect to cycle or to do some jogging. Only 1 km. from horse riding. Apartment on the ground-floor. Kitchen with Satellite-TV, oven and washing machine. Two bedrooms. Bathroom with shower. Terrace and parking.
